Melissa currently works as a Senior Manager for EY Law. Melissa has over 16 years of legal experience both as a practicing attorney and as a legal consultant. She is admitted to practice in the State of Connecticut as well as the Federal court, District of Connecticut. She is proficient in several practice management, case management and data analytics tools and is a Certified Brainspace Analyst and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

Sara Miro is the Managing Attorney and Director of Knowledge at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP’s New York office, where she focuses on knowledge management, court procedures, technology implementation and process improvement for the firm.
Prior to joining the firm’s knowledge management and leadership team, Ms. Miro was an associate in the firm’s litigation group, where she represented commercial clients in complex litigation in U.S. federal and state courts. Ms. Miro draws on her years of practice experience to guide case teams on matter strategy and compliance with court requirements, while also creating innovative ways to enhance attorney workflows through the use of smart technology.
Joe Morford is the firmwide Managing Partner of Tucker Ellis LLP, a role he has held since 2010.
In addition to his firm leadership role, Joe maintains an active practice focused on the representation of major corporations in complex mass tort, business litigation, and product liability matters both in Ohio and in courtrooms throughout the United States.
For 18 years, Joe served as a volunteer magistrate judge for the City of Shaker Heights Juvenile Court Diversion Program. He has served on numerous community Boards of Directors and has been active in many community organizations.
Joe and his wife are the proud parents of four children – all of whom are likely too old to continue to warrant mention in his firm bio. Tiffany leads the firm’s knowledge management (KM) and records/office services functions while chairing the firm’s internal Technology Innovation group. With over 25 years of experience in KM and research, she oversees the firm’s investigative, business and legal research as well as evaluates and implements KM tools and processes. Tiffany trains attorneys and staff on efficient research strategies; conducts contract negotiations, budgeting and supervising; and advances the performance of various legal and administrative departments by establishing and implementing valuable workflow solutions. She is also a member of the Firm’s Technology Committee. In addition to working in the legal field, Tiffany was an information specialist with McKinsey & Company, a leading management consultant firm.
Named as one of the Most Innovative Intrapreneurs by the Financial Times in 2022, Kate leads innovation efforts with clients and lawyers to improve the delivery of legal services through novel products, smart staffing, streamlined processes, and the use of technology. Kate, a former litigator, also leads CaseStream, Orrick’s homegrown litigation management system, and remains active in numerous pro bono matters.
Torben Pedersen Director of Enterprise Architecture

Torben Pedersen leads IT enterprise architecture for Norton Rose Fulbright US LLP. With a focus on enhancing client value and optimizing operational efficiency, he is responsible for developing and implementing sustainable IT strategies for the firm. This involves conducting technology assessments, creating innovative designs, and incubation of proof-of-value initiatives. He has a passion for IT-as-a-Service to enable user self-service of technology solutions that makes their daily lives more productive.
Prior to joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Torben held various IT leadership positions, including Director of Global IT Cloud Services at HPE, Enterprise Architect at Halliburton, and Principal Architect with Microsoft Consulting Services. He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his current role, gained through his extensive work with leading technology and industry companies.
Originally from Denmark, Torben moved to Houston, where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston. He has since made Houston his home, and continues to pursue his passion for technology
Zorik Pesochinsky is a Global Client Director at Thomson Reuters. In this role, he partners with law firm leaders to identify unmet customer needs, develop and test new solutions, and drive adoption and co-development of TR solutions. Previously, he was a Strategy Director for Large Law Firms and a Senior Product Manager for Practical Law. Prior to joining Thomson Reuters, Zorik was a Legal Fellow at GMHC. He is a graduate of the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and New York University.
Cheryl has 39 years of experience, unique to one law firm in its finance area. That one law firm has seen tremendous change and growth over the years, from a single office with 35 attorneys to a regional firm with 170 attorneys across six offices in two states. Cheryl was promoted to Senior Financial Analyst a few years ago, after having moved up through the accounting ranks. She works primarily with the Firm’s Financial Operations Team, consisting of the Firm’s Managing Director, COO, Finance Committee Chair, CTO, General Counsel and Controller, bringing clarity to the Firm’s financial results and developing strategies for top line growth. In addition to being part of the Finance Ops Team, Cheryl works alongside the Firm’s Strategic Business Unit Leaders, analyzing each Unit’s financial results and offering insights to aid in improving performance. Having begun her career in the legal industry in accounting in the pre-computer era, Cheryl has not only witnessed tremendous change in legal technology employed within and outside of the financial area but also been instrumental in its implementation. The knowledge gained through financial system implementation, various system conversions and mergers, along with her accounting and finance background enhanced through the resources offered by organizations such as ARK, LawVision, Thomson Reuters, etc., have enabled Cheryl to become a trusted advisor to the Firm. She received an Associate Degree in Business Management and Accounting prior to beginning her career at the Firm. When life permitted, she returned to college and achieved her goal of attaining a Bachelor of Science Degree concentrating in Organizational Leadership and Learning, Magna Cum Laude, in 2015 from the University of Louisville.

Melissa has almost 20 years of experience in the legal services industry. She started as a practicing lawyer and then moved to the law firm business side. As chief client experience officer, Dan leads a group of dedicated client experience team members who focus on providing value to clients, developing creative and innovative solutions to clients’ needs, and ensuring all clients receive consistently excellent service.
Dan has more than 20 years of experience in leading marketing, business development, and client experience efforts for professional services firms. He has launched law firm client feedback and key client programs, worked with attorneys to build new multidisciplinary practices, developed client-facing products and technology solutions, and incorporated client service into attorney and practice group business planning. As the leader of Troutman Pepper’s Client Experience Department, Dan spearheaded the creation of the firm’s client value program, Troutman Pepper Plus, and an internal companion program focused on client service within the firm’s business teams.

Heather Reid is the Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Akin. There she is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring programs and processes, across all firm functions, that support DEI at Akin. Heather started her career as a practicing attorney, working as an M&A lawyer for 5½ years at a large law firm and then as an entertainment lawyer at boutique entertainment firm for 5½ years. She transitioned into professional development and DEI, working at a non-profit and a global law firm, before joining Akin. She graduated from Brown University and Columbia Law School.
David A. Rueff Jr. is a shareholder in the Jackson office of Baker Donelson and is also the Firm's Chief Client Solutions Group Officer. In this role, David is responsible for oversight of an innovation team at Baker Donelson which includes legal project management, knowledge management, pricing, practice technologies, matter data strategies, automation, AI and legal research. David regularly works with lawyers and clients to develop unique matter pricing and technology solutions, in-house corporate training on a range of innovation topics and paid consulting services.
In 2010, David was also responsible for the development of the Firm's legal project management model BakerManage® and was the first Baker Donelson attorney to implement it in his own practice. David helped to create and staff one of the first law firm Legal Project Management Offices in 2011 and guided the development of the Firm's process improvement model - BakerLeanTM and the Firm's proprietary budgeting tool - Budget Designer. David also leads a team which is responsible for administration of the Firm’s intranet solution, BakerNet, which provides access to practice forms and resources to improve the efficiency of all practice areas.
David has authored and co-authored several books and articles on legal project management, budgeting and pricing solutions, legal technology and innovation including The Power of Legal Project Management, a Practical Guide published by the ABA in November of 2021. David was also a designer and contributor to the Corporate Legal Operations Consortium’s LPM Framework and Matter Life Cycle Management process which was published in an eBook in 2022.
Prior to law school, David worked in the technology industry for a hardware and software manufacturer where he was first exposed to project management, agile and the development software applications for the engineering industry. David has been a practicing lawyer for 25 years, is PMP certified through the Project Management Institute and is certified in the Toyota Manufacturing Production System (Lean). David's legal practice included litigation, transactional matters and the administration of disaster recovery federal programs. David has staffed and managed project teams in Mississippi, New York, Texas, New Jersey and Louisiana. His experience includes the management and oversight of a program legal department that included a team of 11 attorneys and 20 paralegals.

As Vice President, M&A Integration at Litera, Barry Solomon focuses on bringing together acquired legal technology companies, enabling continuous innovation and the delivery of a legal technology ecosystem that helps legal teams win and deliver high quality legal services. Barry was on the leadership team of Foundation prior to its acquisition by Litera.
Barry practiced law at Sidley Austin LLP. He left his practice to help found Interface Software, the maker of InterAction. Shawn Swearingen has over 20 years of experience in legal innovation and technology. She is currently the Chief Innovation Officer at the law firm of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath, which has over 1300 attorneys worldwide. In her role, Shawn leads a team of professionals in data science & analytics, business intelligence, strategic pricing and client value, competitive intelligence, client intake, client design services and the Faegre Drinker Legal Design Lab (a partnership with Stanford’s Law and Design Schools). Lauren Symington is the Chief Talent Officer at Lewis Roca. Tricia has worked in law firm libraries for more than 30 years. She started her career while in college as the “kid who shelved the books” and over the years worked her way up the ladder to become a law firm library director overseeing a team of library managers, research librarians, technical services librarians, and library assistants. She currently serves as the Director of Research Services at Akerman LLP. Tricia loves digging for answers and enjoys tackling a challenging research project. She is keenly interested in the latest advancements in automation, data analytics, and knowledge management strategies.
Tricia is a member of the American Association of Law Libraries and serves on the Lexis Advisory Board. She received her undergraduate degree from Oglethorpe University and her MLIS from Valdosta State University. David Tillistrand Director of Billing & Collections

David has been directing CSG’s billing & collections operations for three years, utilizing his more than 20 years of Aderant law firm experience to assist the firm in managing its financial operations. David has more than a decade of hands-on experience in a variety of roles at mid-size firms with at least 500 attorneys, and an additional ten years of management experience in both finance and office administration. This combination of management and “boots on the ground” experience provides him with a unique perspective and insight into managing the billing/collection practice, especially at a pivotal growth period for the firm. He understands that time is better spent taking action on data rather than manual creation of data reports or working within inefficient billing processes. Much of his focus at CSG is driving simplified inventory review processes, maintaining accountability within that process, maximizing the efficiency of personnel and processes, and ensuring that CSG is on the cutting edge for technology-based solutions for billing, collections, and inventory reporting.
Emile Van Der Berg is Senior Director of Sales at Litera, and previously served as co-founder and Managing Director of Upper Sigma, the most powerful legal specific CRM built on the Salesforce platform. Emile started Upper Sigma in 2020 to create a modern legal CRM that was secure and feature-rich, but could also be integrated successfully and quickly. With a background in Process Engineering and the Salesforce ecosystem, he was able to bring the world’s most powerful CRM platform to the legal industry seamlessly, which led to major adoption by some of the largest firms in the world.
In his new role as Senior Director of Sales at Litera, Emile is working within the Litera team to take the Upper Sigma product to market with greater scale and velocity, backed by the Litera product ecosystem. Kelli Wight is the Chief Operating Officer at the mid-sized Toronto-based law firm of Koskie Minsky LLP (www.kmlaw.ca) where she works closely with the Executive Committee and Partnership on the conception, development and implementation of highly-integrated firm management, strategic growth, profitability and governance initiatives. In addition, she oversees the activities of the Senior Management Team responsible for finance, operations, technology, business development, human resources and professional development.
She has 38 years of experience working in the finance, legal and accounting industries in New York and Toronto and served as the head of marketing, business development and strategy at four national Canadian law firms earlier in her career before transitioning into her current role in 2015.

Eric Wood is the Practice Innovations and Technology Partner. As a member of Chapman’s Practice Innovations group, Eric works across the firm's offices and practice groups to research, design and develop legal technology tools for Chapman’s attorneys and clients.
Eric’s experience includes developing internal- and external-facing document automation systems, designing custom transaction management, document drafting and contract analysis software, building legal expert systems and leading numerous service design, process optimization and knowledge management initiatives.
Eric draws on significant prior experience in commercial lending and securities transactions, previously working as an associate in the Banking and Financial Services Department at Chapman and the Capital Markets group at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in New York. Before attending law school, he worked on legal technology and access to justice projects as an AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteer for Wyoming Legal Services.
